Yesterday on the Today show, Jean Chatzky was on talking about how identity thieves have been dumpster diving to get the pre-approved credit card offers that companies mail out to people, unsolicited.

People usually just rip them up and toss them out. A reporter ran a test where they ripped up the applications, then taped them back together and mailed them to the credit card companies. Amazingly, many companies (including BofA) actually issued the credit cards, and some even accepted “change of address” information on these messy ripped-and-re-pasted things!

This is what Jean recommended:
1. SHRED: Don’t just rip up the applications. Shred them.
2. OPT OUT: You can call 1-888-5-OPT-OUT and register your information. Then, by law the companies have to stop sending you the pre-approved credit apps.

I keep hearing all these things about the card and its really hard for me because i want to use this for maplestory and nxcash but alot of questions pop up like:

How is the prepaid credit card?
Can the Green Dot Credit Card be used with paypal?
Well, there are many forums that state that green dot was blocked from paypal. I was wondering if this was true or not.
alright, now i want a refund, but they wont let me give my name. It keeps giving me an error on greendotonline.com. It is really frusturating. What should i do?

Like which companies has the lowest fees and all that…offers the most features.
What features should I look for in a credit card?

Which credit card gives you the best chance of earning an air trip someone within the US? I’m tired of plans that make redeeming an air flight almost impossible with their out of reach points system. Are United and Delta’s credit cards good about making redeemable flights within reach of cardholders? I need a new credit card that rewards me with flights if you spend on average $1000 a month. If you work in retail then more than likely you have a credit goal to meet and your company basically wants you badger a customer into getting their card. Im just curious..are you the type to talk the customer into getting a credit card until they say yes or do you just let it go and leave them alone if they say no the first time that you ask. Me personally if they say no then I leave it alone because I do believe that no means no…and when I tell someone no thats what I mean.
